Hey Muffins! I love organizing makeup and it is much better kept and utilized when in a palette form and not to mention easily carried around. Today I will share with you a pictorial on how I depot my eyeshades and label them too.
Note: this involves heat and sharp objects so caution is strongly advised.

Firstly here is what you will need:

  • A flat iron set on high heat
  • MAC/ MakeupGeek, Urban Decay etc eyeshadow pots
  • A piece of aluminum foil
  • A metal object with a sharp end (spatula, tweezers, nail file, knife etc)

image002 Then the technical part starts:
  • 1. Make the detaching line / separation visible – (see the yellow arrow for guidance).
  • 2. You can use your nails if you have strong ones or ask for someone’s help to help create a little widening between the separation.
  • 3/4/5. Insert the sharp thin edge of a metal object into the widened separation and scoop it upwards. You will get the top part of the container out which holds the pan. Note: do be extra careful when scooping out the pan from inside as you can end up scraping the eyeshadow or part of your skin.
  • 6. Place the extracted part on to aluminum foil.

image002 Then the sticky part:

Place the foil with extracted insert on a preheated flat iron and give it a minute approximately. After that carefully without burning yourself turn the insert around to see whether there is a bit of melting / change of physical appearance of the plastic ( like denting) then move to the below mentioned step or put it back on the iron for a few more seconds

If there are signs of denting or you see a slight hole at the back, insert a sharp object and pierce through the plastic gently but firmly. The metal rim of the pan should get pushed enough for you to scoop it up from the base. The metal pan is going to be hot and sticky from the melting so keep it aside to cool off.

If you want to label your eyeshadows you can obviously use labeling stickers or here is a way to use the original sticker from the container:

  • Place the container on the foil and onto the hot iron and wait for up to 15-18 seconds.
  • Use your nail to scrape the sticker from the edge and gently lift it using your fingers or a pair of tweezers - the gentle heat should be enough to allow the sticker to come off with ease.
  • stick the label on the back of the pan and place it in your Mac pro palette.

Note: the pans are non magnetized though they will fit in Mac palettes without falling out but they won’t stick to a Z palette as it requires a magnetized surface.

To put the pans in to a Z palette here is what you will need to do:

  • Magnetized stickers are available online (www.makeupgeek.com or www.amazon.com for example).
  • You can place one of these at the back of the pan and its stickiness will keep the magnet glued and on the opposite side you can place the original eyeshadow label shown earlier or of course you can use label stickers.
  • Place the magnetized pan on the Z palette and you are done!!
